I-Med Training Center, South Africa
South Africa
South Africa, with 60 million inhabitants, is one of the economically strongest countries in Africa, but suffers from considerable social inequalities. There is a lack of high-quality health care, particularly in rural areas and townships. High rates of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases exacerbate the situation, while rural hospitals are often poorly equipped and lack infrastructure.

Funding for the ‘Pre and Postnatal Care Education’ course
We are delighted to have financed the ‘Pre- and Postnatal Care Education’ course at the I-Med training centre in South Africa. This project strengthens healthcare provision in a country that, despite its economic strength, suffers from major social inequalities. In rural areas and townships in particular, there are considerable deficits in medical care, which are exacerbated by high HIV/AIDS rates and other challenges.
The course helps to provide pregnant women and young mothers with vital information and support for medical care, birth and aftercare. In this way, we are making an important contribution to improving healthcare and quality of life in the affected regions.

Health Promoters
These specially trained professionals play a crucial role in health promotion, particularly in disadvantaged rural areas and townships, where access to medical care is often severely restricted.
The Health Promoters visit local families, provide valuable education and advice on topics such as disease prevention, hygiene, nutrition and preventive healthcare. They act as an important bridge between the communities and the healthcare system, helping to raise awareness of health and create better living conditions in the long term.
With this initiative, we are committed to improving healthcare and quality of life for many people in South Africa.
